What´s the role?
Provide legal advice/counsel in business-related areas.
Strategically assess federal and state government funding programs, initiatives, and opportunities, as well as related financial incentives, specifically directed to the telecommunications industry
.
Actively meet with internal stakeholders and business partners to apply for, or compete in
, said
federal and state government funding programs, initiatives, and opportunities
.
Manage
relationship
with federal and state government officials as it specifically relates to the above mentioned federal and state government funding programs, initiatives, and opportunities
.
Develop and implement internal procedures to
meet with
related legal and regulatory and compliance requirements, milestones, and commitments
.
Support an extremely fast-moving business with tight deadlines while providing diligent and thorough work product
and general legal advice and support on an array of legal issues
related to federal and state funding programs
.
How can you add value?
- Revise, analyze and internally communicate guidelines for federal and state government funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities, including, but not limited to, Federal Communication Commission (FCC) Reports and Orders.
- Engage internal stakeholders and business partners to assess LCPR interest in
participating
in federal and state government funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities
.
- Meet with and lead internal stakeholders
in the process of drafting
applications and/or proposals to
participate
in federal and state government funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities.
- Meet with business partners and external counsel to refine applications and/or proposals to
participate
in federal and state government funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities.
- Draft,
review
and
submit
federal and state funding program applications and competitive proposals.
- Manage
relationship
with federal and
state
government agencies and instrumentalities
regarding
federal and
state
funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities.
- Oversee general compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements and commitments as they specifically relate to federal and state government funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities.
- Provide legal advice and support to internal stakeholders on a wide array of issues related to federal and state government funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities.
- Prepare legal briefs
, memorandums and other legal documents
on topics related to issues that
impact
the company's business, with thorough analysis and recommendations on mitigating activities that can be taken to prevent risks and legal action against the company.
- Collaborate and prepare legal
risks
assessments on LCPR's and
LLA's
federal and state funding programs,
initiatives
and opportunities.
- D
emonstrate and ensure compliance with the Customer First Philosophy
.
- Demonstrate and ensure compliance with all
Liberty Puerto Rico
and Liberty Latin America's
policies and procedures including the
Business
Code of Conduct
.
- Other functions may be assigned
.
What do you need?
Education and/or Experience:
Bachelor's degree and Juris Doctor from an accredited law school and be admitted to the practice of law within the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico and, preferably, the United States Federal Court.
Two to five years of demonstrated success in a commercial legal role.

- Strong ability and inclination to collaborate with others.
- Strong organization and leadership skills that reflect ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced dynamic work environment with efficient prioritization, client interaction, responsiveness, and focus (especially during periods of sustained pressure and often under tight deadlines).
- Very strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with team members, including staff, external partners, and suppliers.
- Breadth and depth of technical legal knowledge, excellent business judgment and strong analytical skills.
- High standards of ethics and confidentiality to handle sensitive information.
- Demonstrated proactive approaches to problem-solving with strong decision-making capability.
- Proven ability to handle confidential information with discretion, be adaptable to various competing demands, and demonstrate the highest level of customer/client service and response.
- Forward looking problem solver, who actively seeks opportunities and proposes solutions.
- Computer Knowledge (Microsoft Office).
- Fully Bilingual (Spanish and English).
