The Work You'll Do
The Senior Regulatory Specialist is responsible for leading client-facing initiatives directed at expanding and refining our content. This includes serving as the Sovos Point of Contact for requirements, deadlines, and deliverables. Work with our Sales and Professional Services teams on documentation (e.g. SOW) and pricing. This role will also take part in direct customer/prospect interaction and support client-facing initiatives including working with clients as partners in expanding and refining the scope of our content coverage.

More Specifically, You Will

  • Develop an understand Sovos's role in simplifying the regulatory compliance burden for our clients
  • Support the Product team in the evolution of solutions related to ancillary obligations;
  • Analyze and interpret technical notes related to electronic tax document
  • Actively monitor Tax Reform developments, with a particular focus on the technology supporting the new tax model.
  • Build proficiency with our internal tools used to maintain system content and the intricacies of content management
  • Read, interpret and understand regulations
  • Undertake assigned regulatory tracking and research assignments
  • Draft careful, accurate and well reasoned responses to client inquiries
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the complexities that exist in your assigned jurisdictions
  • Build an understanding of Sovos product and service offerings and how Reg. interrelates with other departments
  • Support larger departmental and organizational initiatives as needed
  • Independently produce high quality research documentation and accurate/precise content
  • Serve as a mentor to junior colleagues within the Department
  • Independently lead internal departmental initiatives
  • Consistently produce thoughtful and accurate responses to client inquiries and Sovos internal inquiries
  • Independently identify and account for complex regulatory issues identified during research initiatives
  • Actively manage and lead distinct research and content projects
  • Provide independent support to our cross functional partners including Product Management, Marketing, Sales, Professional Services, Managed Services and Product Development
  • Utilize your skill, knowledge, and creative thinking to support how we address complex legal issues in our solutions
  • Work with Management Team in driving process improvement initiatives
  • Serve as an ambassador of Sovos to the outside business community by developing and fostering relationships with regulators and industry peers
  • Serve as the Sovos-wide thought leader on complex Regulatory topics
  • Serve as a senior mentor and 'best example" to your colleagues for all Sovos and Regulatory Core Values

What We Need From You

  • Typically, 4-5 years' experience in a similar type of role
  • An earned reputation as a leader and subject matter expert
  • Sustained commitment to organizational purpose and strategy
  • Expert proficiency in regulatory research and content management
  • Effective mentor and department leader
  • Ability to independently interact with customers and prospects
  • Ability to provide subject matter leadership to the Sovos organization
  • Sufficient expertise to play a leading role in departmental initiatives, work independently on critical departmental issues and to be accountable for results
  • Effective mentor/teacher/reviewer within the department
  • Deep understanding of Sovos processes and procedures so as to drive improvement initiatives to completion
  • Proven ability to see the big picture and apply this understanding to set priorities
  • Exemplary demonstration of the core values
  • Working knowledge of internet integration standards such as SOAP/XML and REST/JSON and ability to work directly with utility tools to work with both Sovos, partner and regulatory (government) end-points
  • Advanced English communication skills; both written and verbal
  • Experience with Business Intelligence (BI) tools;
  • Knowledge of or experience with Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions.
