Field Services Engineer

Hydranautics is a part of the Nitto Group of companies and a global leader in the field of integrated membrane solutions which includes reverse osmosis, nanofiltration, ultrafiltration and microfiltration for water, wastewater and process treatment and applications. Currently used on seven continents throughout the world for diverse applications such as seawater desalination, industrial high-purity water, surface water treatment, wastewater treatment and specialty process applications.

SR FIELD SERVICE TECHNICAL ENGINEER POSITION OVERVIEW:

Under general supervision, create and sustain technical information on existing and new products, performance, and applications. Provide field services to customers. Oversee the operation of pilot units for customers. Conduct product root-cause analysis, recommend corrective measure and collaborate with customer to implement those improvements. Write technical product specifications. Provide feedback on competitors' product performance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES and/or RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides technical support to Sales & Marketing staff as well as customers regarding company's products, applications, and systems operation.
2. Creates and writes technical information on organization's product specifications and product bulletins.
3. Collaborates with customers with system start-up, operation, and maintenance, including providing technical training to customers on system operation.
4. Builds business relationships which benefit Hydranautics strategic sales plan.
5. Resolves routine customer issues relating to product application and end-user.
6. Evaluates competition performance and communicates data to keep marketing department apprised of competitive product performance.
7. Participates in the evaluation of returned products relative to field operations.
8. Satisfies contractual requirements as specified in the contract and as it relates to Municipal projects.
9. Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

1. Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical, Environmental, Mechanical Engineering or comparable; 6 years' experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Two years in commissioning water treatment plants, a plus.
3. Experience in Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) or A&E companies, a plus.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and/or ABILITIES:

1. Working knowledge of water chemistry concepts, fluid flow and water pressure as well as analytical method and technical writing; above average understanding of Reverse Osmosis, Ultrafiltration and Microfiltration processes and products.
2. Working knowledge of plant processes, RO, NF and UF with practical application to the field.
3. Solid understanding of the construction and manufacture of Spiral Wound elements and Capillary modules, modes of failure of membrane systems, and the effects of cleaning chemicals on the products.
4. Ability to conduct analytical evaluations and identify root causes of failures and recommend corrective actions to improve product performance.
5. Strong multi-tasking skills, flexibility in responding to rapidly changing, dynamic processes and demands/pressures in a fast-paced environment.
6. Strong ability to verbally communicate across functional organizational groups, provide high-level customer service through effective interpersonal skills and conflict resolution.
7. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite software applications such as Excel, Word, Power Point.
8. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
9. Read, understand, and generate P&ID and PFD drawings.
10. Travel for extended periods and work with a flexible schedule.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS and/or WORK ENVIRONMENT:

1. Ability to work at a desk for extended periods of time.
2. Ability to stand and walk around the facilities for extended periods of time.
3. Perform walkthrough inspections of all facilities (both inside and outside plant) which require exposure to varying temperatures, noise levels above 80 decibels and use of personal protective equipment in certain areas.
4. Attend meetings off-site.
5. Ability to travel in and outside CONUS up to 10% per year.
6. Must be able to work extended hours per the demands of the business.
7. Must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
8. Ability to work hands-on with equipment/machines/piping.
9. Ability to lift to 60 pounds, with or without assistance.
10. Ability to work with water, wastewater, and Process applications.
11. Ability to sit for up to 70% of the time in front of a computer terminal.
12. Ability to work at noise levels over 80 decibels.
13. Ability to work in hot and humid environments.
14. Travel, from 25% to 50% as required, to support the needs of the business.
15. Ability to use personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, etc. when appropriate.
