Position Summary

The Local Market Patient Safety Specialist plays a key role in ensuring robust, compliant, and consistent safety and risk management across all territories where BMS operates. This position supports the execution of pharmacovigilance (PV) activities in accordance with local regulatory requirements, legal obligations, and BMS procedures, under the supervision of the Local Market Patient Safety (LMPS) Lead or designee.

Key Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of Risk Management Plans.
  • Provide safety information to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Support PV audit and inspection readiness activities.
  • Plan, process, and report Aggregate Safety Reports to Health Authorities and Ethics Committees (as required).
  • Maintain PV awareness and deliver training programs.
  • Implement Pharmacovigilance Agreements.
  • Collect, follow-up, and forward spontaneous, literature, solicited, and post-marketing adverse event (AE) cases.
  • Submit individual case safety reports to local Health Authorities and Ethics Committees (as required).
  • Ensure high-quality local market safety data.

Qualifications & Experience
  • University degree in Life Sciences or Nursing qualification.
  • 2–3 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry or a medical environment, ideally with exposure to PV or medical/scientific information services.
  • Strong organizational, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to compile and present safety information clearly and concisely.
  • Understanding of local, regional, and international PV regulations (e.g., ICH, CIOMS).
  • Familiarity with safety databases and internal PV systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to work independently while complying with internal and external guidelines.
  • Fluent English desirable.
Travel Requirements

Minimal travel required. Occasional trips may include visits to BMS sites, Health Authorities, or attendance at professional meetings and seminars.

On-site Protocol

BMS has an occupancy structure that determines where an employee is required to conduct their work. This structure includes site-essential, site-by-design, field-based and remote-by-design jobs. The occupancy type that you are assigned is determined by the nature and responsibilities of your role:

Site-essential roles require 100% of shifts onsite at your assigned facility. Site-by-design roles may be eligible for a hybrid work model with at least 50% onsite at your assigned facility. For these roles, onsite presence is considered an essential job function and is critical to collaboration, innovation, productivity, and a positive Company culture. For field-based and remote-by-design roles the ability to physically travel to visit customers, patients or business partners and to attend meetings on behalf of BMS as directed is an essential job function.
