**Description**:
Corteva Agriscience is looking for a highly motivated Field Experimentation scientist to join the Farming Solutions & Digital Field Experimentation team within Corteva Research & Development.
Farming Solutions & Digital (FS&D) is focused on integrating digital into research and development (seed, crop protection) and developing farmer-facing digital insights with Corteva products (seed, crop protection).
This Field Experimentation (FE) position will be responsible for providing scientific leadership and oversight of FS&D field experimentation efforts, with a specific focus on the intersection of agronomy and crop physiology with digital + product development.
The position will be focused on Brazil, with minor responsibilities in Argentina and other LATAM countries.
The duties and responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to the following:
- Program leadership.
Lead overall FSD field experimentation program for Brazil, representing all projects that support digital seeds, digital crop protection, and digital farming platforms.
Delegates project responsibilities accordingly.
- Project leadership.
Works with team to conceptualize product concept, develop multi-year science plan of work, drive alignment and understanding of plan of work priorities across all relevant work streams (field experimentation, sensors & IoT, data science, etc), lead stakeholder relationships.
Partners closely with Commercial stakeholders to define objectives, science plan, experimental protocols, and on-farm trial execution.
- Drive and implement on-farm data capture efforts for Brazil FS&D, in partnership with other Field Experimentation team members.
Work to integrate on-farm data with small plot data in a meaningful way.
Ensure collected datasets are complete for transition to data science team members and provide necessary "translation" for ready ingestion and analysis.
- People leader role.
In addition, indirect people management for those at R&D research centers, to ensure proper execution of FE protocols, high data quality, understanding and alignment.
- Travel expected for project oversight, data collection, and relationship management (domestic, 25-40%).
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive working environment.
**Qualifications**:
The following are required:
- PhD or MS degree in agronomy, including crop production and physiology, weed science, genetics & plant breeding, plant pathology, entomology, soil science, nutrient management, crop protection or related field.
- Strong understanding and experience with statistical analysis and use of analytical programs such as R or SAS.
- Technical leadership in scientific field, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications and/or internal white papers, scientific publications, other
- Experience with both small plot and on-farm research
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented and attention to detail
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; Portuguese and English speaking required
- Capable of performing field activities, operating a vehicle, and gaining drone certification
The following are preferred:
- Farmer-facing experience and familiarity with typical practices used by Brazil commercial row crop farmers
- Management and analysis of geospatial data in programs such as ArcGIS, AgStudio, AgLeader SMS, or similar
