Job description:Job Title:Storage Management Consultant (SMC) – Residency ServicesRole Overview:The Storage Management Consultant (SMC) provides on-site or remote consulting and operational support to optimize storage solutions.The SMC brings expertise in storage technologies, management best practices, and system operations to ensure maximum efficiency and value from storage investments.This is typically delivered as a fixed-price engagement under a residency services program.Key Responsibilities:Provide project management, execution, and consulting on storage management solutions.Implement and optimize storage management tools and advanced storage efficiency features.Perform capacity planning, storage monitoring, diagnostics, and hardware/software upgrades.Facilitate coordination between support teams and operational resources.Maintain documentation of storage systems and operational best practices.Conduct proactive service management, including release planning, bug analysis, and disaster recovery planning.Assist with data migration, archival planning, and change management.Analyze storage requirements, monitor system performance, and recommend improvements.Out-of-Scope Activities:Storage system architecture and design.High-availability or performance tuning/configurations.Project work not included in the SMC scope.Product training.Physical moving of equipment.Work Schedule & Logistics:Standard workweek: 40 hours (8 hours/day, Monday–Friday) during normal business hours.Overtime or work outside normal hours requires prior approval and time-and-materials billing.Flexibility for holidays, PTO, training, and professional meetings is allowed.Responsibilities:Ensure required hardware, software, facilities, and security access are available.Maintain data backup, disaster recovery, and protection measures.Provide knowledgeable staff for system administration and support during the engagement.Obtain any necessary third-party licenses and permissions.Engagement Terms:Services are fixed-price, but additional or out-of-scope work requires a separate statement of work or change request.Engagement start dates and schedules are defined per resource allocation.Governed by standard professional services terms unless a specific agreement is executed.
