Howard University is seeking a Contract Specialist to manage the operational procedures and processes associated with contractual arrangements/agreements for goods and services procured by the institution.This role involves primary responsibility for ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and policies, as well as maintaining confidentiality and protecting sensitive data at all times.The successful candidate will coordinate work with various departments and serve as a liaison between Howard University and vendors to oversee the intake, review, and finalization of all contracts that bind the institution.Maintaining University Contracts and systems to ensure timely renegotiation and consistency of language/terms in order to provide maximum legal coverage is also a key aspect of this position.The ideal candidate will possess strong project and relationship management skills, with the ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relations with staff, officials, and the general public.Skill RequirementsPossess a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field of studyHave 5 to 8 years experience in an academic, healthcare environment or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and trainingBe experienced with the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR/DFAR)Possession of a Certified Professional Contracts Manager (CPCM), Certified Federal Contracts Manager (CFCM), a Certified Research Administrator, or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) certification is preferredBenefitsComprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurancePaid holidays, flexible work arrangements, and time offCompetitive salary, 403(b) with company match, and ongoing training opportunitiesTuition reimbursement, career advancement paths, and a vibrant company cultureOngoing OpportunitiesParticipate in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirementsActively participate in Health Sciences Compliance Program activitiesAdhere to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures and maintain confidentiality of patients, families, faculty, students, and staff
