Job DescriptionThe Associate Counsel will be a member of the Legal Department in the LAC Region and will be based in São Paulo, Brazil.
The Associate Counsel will be responsible for providing legal support to the account executives and other internal clients in Visa, particularly in the context of payment system in Brazil.Provide expert legal advice on regulatory matters to ensure compliance with Brazilian laws and regulations affecting the payment industry.Monitor and interpret regulatory changes, advising the business on potential impacts and necessary adjustments.Develop, analyze, and negotiate strategic commercial agreements, including client, consulting, sponsorships, promotions, and vendor agreements.Draft, update, and develop template contracts to allow for more efficient contracting processing.Review, analyze, draft and negotiate complex agreements relating to the acquisition, licensing and implementation of technology, procurement of goods and services, structuring new service delivery programs, participating in quality benchmarking and similar arrangements, and numerous other contractual relationships.Provide general legal support and advice to business line and management in LAC in connection with existing client relationships, business development activities, regulatory issues, and development and launch of new products and services.Oversee compliance with company policies, industry standards, and licensing requirements.Develop and implement internal rules and policies to ensure regulatory compliance.Work with other members of the legal department and outside counsel to manage local litigation matters and address legal issues in various areas of the law, including antitrust, privacy, and intellectual property.Work collaboratively with a broad range of people and functions throughout the company to develop and maintain strong working relationships across all functional areas to facilitate a partnering-based approach.This is a hybrid position.

•2 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD, or PhD)
Preferred Qualifications
•3 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or more than 2 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)
•J.D. with strong academic credentials and admitted to practice law in, and member in good standing of Brazilian Bar Association.
•5-7 years experience at a top national law firm and/or, preferably, at a global corporation.
•Background and knowledge of some of the following will be a plus: payment services industry and related processing industries, banking and financial institutions laws and regulations.
•Outstanding English and Portuguese speaking and writing skills (Spanish a plus).
•Ability to effectively assess all issues from both legal and business perspectives, identifying legal risks and prioritizing response.
•Sense of urgency and responsiveness.
•Ability to work independently, prioritize workloads and communicate with all levels of the organization including senior management.
•Experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial transactions.
