Chemistry Expert (AI Training)
About The Role
What if your years of chemistry training could directly shape how AI reasons through the most complex scientific problems in the world? We're looking for Chemistry Masters and PhDs to design, solve, and evaluate advanced chemistry problems that teach AI to think like a real scientist. This is a fully remote, flexible contract role built for working researchers, academics, and industry chemists who want meaningful, intellectually engaging work on their own schedule. No prior AI experience needed — just deep chemistry expertise and a passion for rigorous problem-solving.
• Organization: Alignerr
• Type: Hourly Contract
•
Location:
Remote
• Commitment: 10–40 hours/week
What You'll Do
• Design and develop complex, real-world chemistry problems spanning organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
• Solve and critically review advanced problem sets to ensure scientific accuracy and depth
• Apply your domain expertise to challenge and stress-test AI reasoning at a graduate level
• Collaborate asynchronously with AI researchers and fellow domain experts to sharpen model performance
• Ensure every deliverable meets the highest standards of scientific rigor, clarity, and precision
• Work independently on task-based assignments — fully on your own schedule Who You Are
• Hold a Master's or PhD in Chemistry or a closely related field
• Deep expertise in one or more areas: organic, inorganic, physical, or computational chemistry
• Comfortable working with Python or computational chemistry tools such as Gaussian or VASP
• Exceptionally detail-oriented — you catch the errors others miss
• Strong written communicator who can explain complex ideas with precision and clarity
• Self-motivated and reliable when working independently Nice to Have
• Prior experience with data annotation, data quality evaluation, or AI training workflows
• Familiarity with molecular modelling, reaction mechanisms, or materials chemistry at a research level
• Background in academic publishing, peer review, or technical writing
• Experience mentoring, tutoring, or designing curriculum in chemistry Why Join Us
• Work on cutting-edge AI projects alongside leading research labs and AI teams
• Fully remote and flexible — work when and where it suits you
• Freelance autonomy with the structure of meaningful, intellectually stimulating work
• Make a direct impact on how AI understands and reasons through advanced science
• Training and onboarding support provided — hit the ground running from day one
• Potential for ongoing work and contract extension as new projects launch
