They must be outgoing, personable, and an active listener. Associates assist customers in the selection, demo, and sales of ski and snowboard equipment, apparel, equipment, and accessories. Maintain the demo fleet and assist with boot sales. Associate will sell products through the point of sale, handle cash, and credit cards. They must be familiar with retail shop merchandise as well as additional resort products and services. Duties include maintaining displays of products and restocking merchandise, researching product features and sharing knowledge with co-workers, assisting with merchandise check-in and internal transfers. Staff also assist with store merchandise security by providing excellent customer service and responding to inventory control alarm systems in accordance with defined procedures.Essential Functions/Major ResponsibilitiesMorning Set Up- Log on to the POS System, count the bank amount- Review equipment reservations, preset bindings where possible- Check retail hard goods displays for neatness & price tags, inventory levelsEquipment Check Out- Assist in the choice of demo equipment for guests- Ensure guests properly fill out rental forms and sign releases- Adjust and torque test bindings to the manufacturer's recommendations, document settings, and sign forms- Explain the use of equipment, release of liability, and potential for loss of equipmentCashiering- Understand all procedures for the cash registers process retail salesProduct Knowledge/Expertise- Alpine skis (current and historical), boots, and bindings- Snowboards, bindings, and boots- Misc. accessories, waxes, tuning supplies- Softgoods and apparelUse and Care of Tools and Equipment- Ski Binding Calibrator binding tester- Hot Waxing irons- Miscellaneous hand tuning tools- Practice safe work habits while using tools and equipmentDemo Equipment Maintenance- Inspect equipment upon demo return- Tune, Repair & Wax equipment as needed- Inspect bindings based on the schedule provided by the supervisor- Practice safe operating procedures while using all tools and machinesSales of Product- Greet customers and determine their needs- Assist in guests’ selection of equipment using product knowledge- Actively pursue sales opportunities- Handle phone orders and shippingClosing Procedures- Ensure that all equipment is returned- Tag any reserved equipment for the following day- Follow procedures for closing register (client close)Housekeeping of work areas -clean and vacuum as needed- Demo benches and counters- Boot sales area- Hot waxing areaMaintain Inventory- Replenish stock from the warehouse as needed- Assist in the transfer of items from warehouse inventory to Sunrise or XC Center- Ensure adequate product stock exists for the day’s businessStore Security- Greet customers as they enter, make eye contact- Monitor traffic and merchandise in and out of the dressing room- Watch entry and exits- Do not leave the store without proper staff coverageSecondary FunctionAssist retail salespeople in the sales of all products in retail stores. Assist in retail warehouse organization and restocking products on the floor.
