Position Summary

A Retail Sales Associate must possess excellent sales skills. They must be outgoing, personable, and an active listener. Associates assist customers in selection and sales of outerwear, apparel, equipment accessories, ski, snowboard and all other product in store. Associate will sell products through point of sale, handle cash and credit cards. They must be familiar with retail shop merchandise as well as additional resort products and services. Duties include maintaining displays of products and restock merchandise, research products features and share knowledge with co-workers, assist with merchandise check in and internal transfers. Staff also assist with store merchandise security by providing excellent customer service and responding to inventory control alarms systems in accordance with defined procedures.

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities

Prepare Sport Shop for Opening- Organize merchandise fixtures, zip garments, face merchandise.- Restock products.- Check dressing room for products, cleanliness.

Customer Sales- Greet customers and answer questions.- Offer exceptional customer service and ensure the guest has options for purchase.- Sell services and aid with purchase selections, assist with special orders.

Cashiering- Operate POS cash register transactions.- Handle merchandise returns in accordance with return policy.- Handle discounts, markdowns, employee discounts.- Understand and complete POS opening and closing procedures.

Merchandising and Maintenance- Check all display fixtures daily.- Create appealing displays of products.- Clean, dust and vacuum as needed.

Product Knowledge- Research product materials for features and benefits.- Share knowledge of products with team members.- Develop and maintain knowledge of all product categories.

Merchandise Check-in and Pricing- Verify packing slip for accuracy.- Record items to receiving worksheets.- Attach price labels to items.

Attend Staff Meetings / Trainings- Attend staff meetings as scheduled.- Maintain overall resort /programs knowledge.- Attend vendor clinics as scheduled.- Participate in mentorship of new staff.

Safety and Risk Management- Document safety concerns on safety huddle forma and share with co-workers.- Know how to contact Ski Patrol, dispatch, and know location of Mountain Medical.- Complete all required release forms accurately and maintain records according to departmental standards.

Store Security- Greet customers as they enter so they know you recognize them.- Monitor entry and exit traffic and merchandise in and out of the dressing room.- Provide good customer service so customers don’t feel neglected.- Do not leave store without proper staff coverage.

Maintain Inventory- Restock items from warehouse inventory.- Check all items for present and accurate labels and pricing.- Utilize defective merchandise tags and return to warehouse procedure.- Ensure adequate product stock exists for the day’s business.

Secondary Function- Assist in Hardgoods sales or demo operations- Support remote retail outlets and retail warehouse operations- Assist with defective merchandise returns- Assist in new merchandise check in process- Any other tasks asked of my manager, supervisor or lead

Specific Job Skills- License/Certifications: None- Technical: Comfortable with computers and able to learn Point of Sale software. Prior sales experience. Ski Industry and or Mountain Bike industry experience preferred.- Physical Capabilities: Must be able to stand for a full shift.

Education/Related Experience- Minimum education required: High School Diploma or equivalent.- Minimum time in related position: 1 season.
