Position Summary

A Lead Retail Sales Associate must possess excellent sales skills. They must be outgoing, personable, and an active listener. Associates assist customers in the selection and sales of ski, snowboard, bike, and active sports apparel, equipment, and accessories. Associates will sell products through the point of sale, handle cash, and accept credit cards. They must be familiar with retail shop merchandise as well as additional resort products and services. Duties include maintaining displays of products and restocking merchandise, researching product features and sharing knowledge with co-workers, assisting with merchandise check-in and internal transfers. Staff also assist with store merchandise security by providing excellent customer service and responding to inventory control alarm systems in accordance with defined procedures.

Major Responsibilities/ Daily Essential Functions

Receiving Goods- Assist in checking in products, pricing, and related paperwork. Prioritize goods to check in by value and payable date.

Prepare Sport Shop for Opening- Ensure all tills have cash for the day- Unlock doors at opening- Communicate any information from management about daily operations- Organize merchandise fixtures, zip garments, and face merchandise- Restock products- Review communications memos and website- Check the dressing room for products, cleanliness

Customer Sales- Greet customers and answer questions- Qualify customers and suggest add-on items- Sell services and assist with purchase selections, assist with special orders- Handle phone orders and package products for shipment

Cashiering- Operate POS cash register transactions- Handle merchandise returns in accordance with the return policy- Handle discounts, markdowns, and employee discounts- Bag purchases and presents to customers with receipts- Understand and complete POS opening and closing procedures

Merchandising and Maintenance- Check all display fixtures daily- Create appealing displays of products- Organize product displays and fixtures, and replace any products sold from displays as soon as possible- Clean, dust, and vacuum as needed

Product Knowledge- Research product materials for features and benefits- Share knowledge of products with team members- Develop and maintain knowledge of all product categories

Merchandise Check-in and Pricing- Verify the packing slip for accuracy- Record items to receiving worksheets- Attach price labels to items

Attend Staff Meetings / Trainings- Attend staff meetings as scheduled- Maintain overall resort /programs knowledge- Attend vendor clinics as scheduled- Participate in the mentorship of new staff

Safety and Risk Management- Document safety concerns on the safety huddle form and share with co-workers- Know how to contact Ski Patrol, dispatch, and know the location of Mountain Medical- Direct any media questions to the appropriate Marketing staff- Complete all required release forms accurately and maintain records according to departmental standards

Store Security- Greet customers as they enter, so they know you recognize them- Monitor entry and exit traffic and merchandise in and out of the dressing room- Provide good customer service so customers don’t feel neglected- Properly install Inventory Control tags and respond to tag alarms whenever activated- Do not leave the store without proper staff coverage

Maintain Inventory- Keep a list of items needed to replenish stock- Restock items from warehouse inventory - Be aware of the inter-store Inventory Transfer procedure- Check all items for present and accurate labels and pricing- Utilize defective merchandise tags and the return to the warehouse procedure- Ensure adequate product stock exists for the day’s business
