About the Team
The Ethics Office was established at TikTok in 2017, with the goal of instituting and maintaining high ethical standards and culture of integrity. The team achieves this goal through 4 main pillars - 1) develop an overarching ethical governance program, 2) implement and maintain ethics policies and processes, 3) provide education and awareness to employees via communications and training, and 4) ensure a highly ethical culture by encouraging employees to speak up and investigate potential wrongdoings.
**Position Summary**:
We are seeking an experienced investigator who will be responsible for employee matters including, but not limited to, potential violations of law or company policy. The responsibility of the Employment Investigator is to conduct a prompt, thorough, and fair investigation consisting of background research, investigative interviews, and debrief meetings in partnership with Employment Legal, HR and Employee Relations Advisors, and the business.
We are also seeking someone with Ethics and Compliance program management experience, including creating and delivering ethics awareness programs and training designed proactively to address workplace issues. This role may also have the opportunity to assist with drafting policies and procedures for our Ethics and Compliance program or local business teams.
This role will report to the AMS Ethics Office regional leader and:
- Personally manage complex investigations end-to-end, including conducting intake meetings, background research, investigative interviews, debrief meetings, and drafting final investigative reports;
- Investigate high risk and highly sensitive cases relating to allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, bullying, conflict of interest, integrity, and other inappropriate behavior;
- Partner with Employment Legal, HR and Employee Relations Advisors, and the business to conduct prompt, thorough, and fair investigations;
- Proactively identify and mitigate employment risks leveraging quantitative and qualitative data;
- Monitor and maintain the company's ethics hotline;
- Prepare and conduct trainings on ethics and workplace matters;
- Conduct ethics awareness and outreach initiatives to stakeholders and business teams; and
- Draft and implement ethics and compliance policies and procedures.
**Qualifications**:
- 5+ years of experience investigating and advising on employment-related matters
- Familiarity with Brazilian Labor Law and working with Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA)
- Experience documenting and presenting investigation findings and recommendations to business leaders
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills - must be able to explain complex topics in clear, concise, and understandable terms
- Strong communicator/influencer with ability to work cross functionally and internationally
- Enthusiastic to develop internal framework and be proactive in helping us build out the Ethics Office functionality
- Facilitation and training experience
- Drafting policies and/or procedures
- Fluency in Portuguese and English (resumes must be submitted in English)
Preferred Qualifications
- Law degree from an accredited university
- Formal investigations training and/or certification
- Relationship management experience in a cross-functional environment across global teams
- Fluency in Spanish
