The Certification & Verification (C&V) Team is changing the way businesses engage in social and environmental impact by carrying out the Mission of the B Lab Global and providing innovative, accurate, and meaningful experiences to our stakeholders, while supporting each other in trust, wellness, and growth.
As a people manager, a Manager manages Certification & Verification team Business Sustainability Analysts and Senior Analysts, developing and supporting high-functioning teams in an environment that promotes professional growth, diverse experiences and perspectives, care, and wellness for all stakeholders. In order to drive success for the C&V team as a whole (team engagement and service delivery), the Manager will use their industry and practical experience to support people who work on the functional team carrying out certification and verification for mid-sized, Large Enterprise, and Multinational Corporations.
The Manager is also responsible for independently managing internal & external relationships with companies and Partners. The role reports to a Sr. Manager or Director of the C&V team and works closely with other Managers and others on the C&V, Standards Management, Global Partner, and technology teams.
**Core Job Functions**:**People Management & Development (60-80%)**
- Provide enabling coaching and facilitate access to resources to cultivate the skills to support direct reports' job performance, career development, and engagement, including wellness
- Offer coaching and support on relationship management or customer service, if needed
- Work with Approach Leads, Director, other Managers and direct reports to align on work and ensure equitable, appropriate, and engaging assignments
- Work in collaboration with others to deliver continual feedback to direct reports, quarterly formal guidance, and 6-month and annual performance evaluations
- Set goals and objectives for team members to achieve results, as well as monitor and track their performance
- Provide regular feedback to Managers team on work allocation, team development, ways of working and wellness initiatives
- Ensure that department and organization policies and practices are understood and adopted by team, and approve fiscal and travel-related matters for direct reports, including expenses, professional development, PTO, and travel
- May assist direct reports in completing the certification or rating process independently or with a team, as needed, which includes:
- Reviewing companies' B Impact Assessment, and other data and documentation about their social and environmental performance, accurately and efficiently within the process for certification
- Independently leading key contacts at companies going through the certification or recertification process; providing quality customer service with care, and managing communications related to the standards and certification
- Guiding companies through the B Corp Legal Framework and legal requirement for certification
- Explaining the standards, certification requirements, and timelines collaboratively with our Global Partners, key contacts at B Corps and prospective B Corps and/or their consultants
- Managing account pipeline and project timelines for companies in the certification process
- Providing continual feedback to process or department leads, and individually contribute to piloting, improving and the standards and certification process
**Oversee & Project manage departmental processes (10-20%)**
- Partner with C&V team peers, other teams at B Lab Global, and stakeholders in the B Global Network (e.g. Marketing, Product, Customer Service, Business Development) to propose and implement new processes or process changes
- Develop, monitor and maintain process reports/dashboards
- Analyze and report on Key Performance Indicators to inform process or product decisions
- Provide necessary training to the team on above processes
- Identify and analyze trends in customer segments and peer organizations' strategies, and monitor current/potential customer trends
- Process examples: B Corp Recertification, Complex Structures, MNC Application Process, or other related support services
**About You**:
- 5+ years experience in combined relevant roles of project management, managing teams and individuals, and/or social and environmental sustainability with or for large or multinational companies (MNCs)
- 2+ years experience in coaching and supporting others in their professional growth and development
- Passion for supporting and mentoring others
- Knowledge of the B Impact Assessment standards and/or industry issues for MNCs
- Excellent customer service record, especially with regards to needs of businesses operating in Latin America and MNCs
- Has experience with or is willing to learn B Corporation certification processes and expected results in order to support Analysts leading companies through those processes
