About The Role
The Financial Controller role is responsible for overseeing the company's financial operations, ensuring accuracy and compliance, and providing strategic financial insights to support executive decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial planning, and internal controls, with the ability to manage a small finance team and implement best practices for a scaling organization.

Location: Remote, must be available 9am - 5pm EST

Responsibilities
  • Financial Management & Reporting
    • Manage financial reporting, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timeliness in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee all accounting functions including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger maintenance.
    • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
    • Ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.
    • Manage cash flow forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Strategic Planning & Analysis
    • Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior leadership for strategic decision-making.
    • Support the development of financial models for business planning and forecasting.
    • Conduct profitability analyses for different service lines and business units.
  • Internal Controls & Compliance
    • Develop and maintain strong internal control procedures.
    • Coordinate annual audits with external auditors.
    • Monitor and ensure compliance with tax laws, corporate governance, and financial regulations.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration
    • Lead and mentor a small finance team, ensuring professional growth and high performance.
    • Collaborate with department heads to develop budgets and cost control measures.
    • Partner with operations and legal teams to ensure accurate billing and case-related financial reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles, with at least 3 years in a leadership capacity
  • Expertise in financial reporting
  • Strong understanding of GAAP, tax regulations, and financial compliance requirements
  • Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, compliance, and financial best practices
  • Experience with Rippling (HRIS) and QuickBooks Online (Accounting) preferred, but not required
  • Experience in professional services, legal, or consulting industry preferred but not required
