- Position Summary
- Mt. Bachelor's Nordic Lodge Staff have the incredible job of connecting guests with the opportunity to have a great day in our Nordic area. Lodge Staff provide outstanding guest service to all Nordic rental and retail guests through friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive equipment outfitting and sales.
- This front-line service position is often uninterrupted and requires the ability to remain calm and effective during busy times. Primary duties include greeting guests, selling trail passes and Nordic lessons, providing trail and equipment information, operating the point-of-sale system, handling cash, accurately sizing guests with equipment, performing basic ski maintenance and base preparation, and selling technical clothing and accessories.
Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities
- Perform opening duties:
- Open Computer workstation. Load cash drawer (verify) and ticket printer.
- Assist in snow shoveling/ice chipping, splitting, and stacking firewood, and maintaining fire.
Trail Pass Sales:
- Perform outstanding customer service while operating software to sell trail passes to guests.
- Answer a wide variety of questions, provide maps and information, answer phone calls regularly.
- Correctly and efficiently enroll guests into ski lessons and programs.
Process guest rental forms:
- Correctly size guests with boots, skis, and poles. "Height? Weight? Shoe size?"
- Explain the function and proper use of equipment.
- Inform guests of lesson meeting areas and facility locations.
- Check in equipment, return to correct space. File rental forms.
- Close Computer workstation, drop deposit and banks.
Rental/ Shop Tech:
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Inspect equipment for needed repairs or waxing.
- Provide prompt turn-around on customer waxes & work orders.
- Show proficiency in all aspects of tuning & repair of ski equipment.
Merchandise:
- Develop and maintain a high level of product knowledge and utilize in sales situations.
- Assist guests with questions, product selection and concerns.
- Ensure all merchandise is properly security tagged.
- Keep merchandise displays neat and sized.
- Maintain inventory.
- Monitor fitting room use.
- Secondary Function
- (The following duties may be considered secondary and may be reassigned)
- Assist in lodge/ trail signage projects. Assist with Nordic Center Events and races. Check trail passes.
- Job Scope
- Responsible for distributing rental equipment that will insure 100% guest satisfaction through accurate sizing and ongoing rental fleet maintenance. Primary source of ticket sales and retail assistance. Should possess strong knowledge of retail offerings and confident and effective sales technique to move entire inventory in seasonal operation.

- License/Certifications: None
- Technical: Proficient computer skills with willingness to learn resort software
- Physical Capabilities: Able to split and carry wood. Prolonged standing. Frequent climbing stairs, lifting, bending, and reaching.
- Additional: Experience in cash handling, knowledge of Nordic skiing, guest service. Use of waxing iron, scrapers, drill, hand tools, shovel, axe, splitting maul, ice chippers.
Education/Related Experience
- Minimum education required: Ability to read, write and follow directions.
- Minimum time in related position: Less than one year.
Current Hiring Range: $15.50/hr
