Exploration Geology Projects Manager – Industrial

The Company

The Role

The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing and managing a team of geologists, contributing to the advanced-stage exploration of Industrial Minerals (IM) and New Materials (NM). The focus is on delivering resources in core commodities and supporting the Exploration & Resource Development (ERD) strategy. This role plays a key part in advancing the corporate Strategy 2040 by targeting areas with the highest geological potential. The position reports to the Director of Generative Exploration.

The Responsibilities

• Support the identification, testing, and delineation of targets across advanced-stage Industrial Minerals (IM) and New Materials (NM) commodities.
• Develop and implement strategic exploration plans for advanced-stage IM & NM, including target prioritization and cost management.
• Direct the identification and evaluation of new IM & NM deposits with potential for economic or industrial development.
• Lead the preparation of exploration operations plans, budgets, and justifications; monitor expenditure to ensure adherence and prevent over- or underspending.
• Track and assess key performance indicators (KPIs) for advanced-stage IM & NM exploration (e.g., drill targets, new resources).
• Oversee and manage geological research activities within your team; act as a subject matter expert in geology.
• Prepare and deliver accurate, timely exploration reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Design and manage exploration programs and site investigations to identify deposits viable for future economic extraction.
• Foster a "Safety First" culture and ensure full implementation of the Environment, Health, Safety, and Security (EHSS) management system across the exploration team.
• Champion innovation through automation, digitalization, artificial intelligence, and data analytics to optimize exploration operations.

The Requirements

• Bachelor's and Master's degree in a relevant Geoscience discipline from an accredited institution; PhD preferred
• Minimum of 15 years' experience in geology within the mining industry, including 10–15 years in mineral exploration and development with a strong emphasis on greenfield targeting and grassroots exploration
• At least 3 years in a management or leadership role, overseeing exploration teams and projects
• Proven multi-commodity and multi-jurisdiction exploration background, with demonstrated expertise in copper, nickel, zinc, lithium, silver, gold, and rare earth element (REE) systems, particularly within Archean crustal environments
• Strong understanding of mineral deposit geology, mineral systems, and the challenges of discovery under cover
• Hands-on experience across at least two major exploration terrains or belts, and deep technical knowledge of at least two commodities, with working knowledge of at least two others or advanced understanding of specific exploration processes
• Direct experience with multiple mineralization styles, including porphyry copper-gold and magmatic nickel-copper systems
• Proficient in a full range of exploration methods and capable of selecting the most effective techniques based on project needs and context
• Significant exposure to known deposits through extensive field visits or mine site secondments
• Strong commitment to maintaining and promoting high safety standards in field operations
• Highly skilled in field analysis, mapping, sampling, geological documentation, reporting, and mentoring of junior geoscientists
• Demonstrated experience in identifying and interpreting geoscientific and geophysical datasets across multiple scales
• Strong project management capabilities, including strategic planning, budgeting, work planning, and team coordination
