Responsibilities

The Opportunity

The Project Portfolio Manager is responsible for overseeing the strategic alignment of all projects within the organization's portfolio, particularly focusing on the Food and Beverage and Fast-Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industries.

This role ensures a structured approach to project portfolio management and prioritizes operational efficiency by optimizing project selection, prioritization, and resource allocation to maximize value and achieve strategic business objectives. Additionally, the manager facilitates effective communication to execute the long-term strategic plan while leveraging industry best practices to maintain a balanced project portfolio that responds adeptly to changing market dynamics.

In this role, you'll engage with a diverse collaborative network, including global project teams where you can share best practices and drive success across multicultural settings. You'll align with inter-departmental partners such as Finance, Operations, and Marketing to transform strategic portfolio objectives into actionable plans. Have the opportunity to present insights to leadership and executives, shaping high-level strategic project portfolio decisions. You'll also build partnerships with internal/external stakeholders ensuring that portfolio goals meet market expectations. Working closely with cross-functional teams will be crucial to streamline processes and implement transformatinal changes. You will thrive in a dynamic environment that values both on-site and remote interactions, fostering innovation and continuous improvement.

Your role will be essential in navigating complex internal/external landscapes and establishing seamless communication streams between departments, ensuring the coordination and alignment of goals. Your proactive approach will reinforce a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement, promoting the integration of diverse perspectives and enhancing overall team performance.

Your Impact

  • Portfolio Strategy Development:
  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive project portfolio strategy aligned with organizational goals

Value Management:
  • Deep understanding of value management principles to maximize the benefits realized from the project portfolio.
  • Ability to prioritize projects based on strategic value, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives
  • Conduct regular portfolio reviews to ensure alignment with strategic priorities.
  • Evaluate project performance and potential value creation, adjusting strategies as necessary

Data-Driven Decision Making:
  • Knowledge data analytics to develop and evaluate financial scenarios, supporting informed decision-making
  • Implement advanced analytics tools to improve portfolio insights and project foresight.
  • Financial performance and acumen
  • Knowledge of budgeting processes and financial risk assessment in the context of portfolio management.
  • Ability to develop detailed financial reports, providing insights into cost-benefit analyses
  • Monitor and enhance financial performance by ensuring projects contribute positively to the organization's financial health. Manage resources efficiently to maximize return on investment
  • Expertise in financial modeling and scenario planning to evaluate project feasibility and forecast potential returns

Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Facilitate workshops with senior leadership to align on portfolio priorities and strategic direction.
  • Serve as a liaison between project teams and executive management, ensuring transparent communication.

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:
  • Design and implement KPIs and dashboards for real-time monitoring of portfolio performance.
  • Develop detailed reports that analyze portfolio health and project outcomes, recommending adjustments where necessary.

Risk Management:
  • Identify potential risks early in the project lifecycle and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Establish a risk assessment framework to ensure proactive management of issues impacting project success.

Capacity Planning - Resource Capacity Planning
  • Skilled in assessing resource needs and planning accordingly to ensure optimal allocation and utilization across multiple projects, maintaining efficient workflow and productivity
  • Assess and allocate resources efficiently across projects to maximize capacity and minimize waste. Collaborate with human resources to ensure skills and talent align with project demands

Qualifications

Who Are We Looking For?
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, or related field. MBA or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience in project or portfolio management, preferably within the Food and Beverage or FMCG industries
  • Fluency in English and Spanish, enabling effective communication in diverse geographical locations and multicultural teams

Financial Provenance:
  • Demonstrated experience in financial management, including budget oversight, cost control, and ROI analysis for large-scale projects
  • Proficiency in data analytics for financial scenario development. Entrepreneurial mindset with strong analytical and execution skill

Value Management Application:
  • Experience in identifying and managing value drivers and levers within the portfolio
  • Experience in applying value management techniques to assess and enhance project and portfolio value. This includes identifying key value drivers and leveraging them to achieve business outcomes.
  • Expertise in Value Management and financial analysis
  • Synthesize insights into clear opportunity areas and customer-centric problem statements, creating powerful storytelling

Transformational Programs
  • Proven track record of leading or contributing significantly to transformational programs that have resulted in substantial efficiency improvements or strategic value addition.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Manage cross-functional workstreams, enabling collaboration between diferent areas
  • Adaptability and Agility: Capacity to pivot strategies quickly in response to market or organizational changes. Ability to manage ambiguity and maintain focus and effectiveness in a fast-paced environment

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional oral and written executive communication abilities to convey complex ideas clearly and concisely to C-levels
  • Ability to work effectively with various departments (e.g., finance, operations, marketing) to ensure integrated portfolio strategies and seamless execution
  • Understanding of the latest technologies and how they can be leveraged to optimize portfolio management. Experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Asana) and other digital tools that enhance productivity
