Senior People Business Partner role within HUC, partnering with Executive Management and Senior Leadership Teams to provide strategic People insights and drive initiatives across change management, talent development, resource planning, and employee relations. You will coach senior leaders, influence decision-making, and ensure delivery of cyclical People initiatives as the organisation evolves.
Role and ResponsibilitiesAs a Senior People Business Partner at HUC, you will:
- Support NHS 111 services by driving strategic people initiatives that impact service delivery, workforce experience, and patient care.
- Influence workforce planning, engagement, and performance management across a fast-paced, 24/7 environment.
- Lead on complex employee relations matters, coach leaders through organisational change, and align people strategies with HUC values and commissioners' needs.
- Use data and insight to inform decision-making, identify workforce trends, and co-develop solutions to improve retention, capability, and wellbeing across the contact centre and clinical workforce.
- Lead and embed people-focused projects such as talent management, leadership development, and diversity & inclusion, collaborating with the wider People team.
- deputise for the Deputy Head of People Strategy and Insourcing as needed and contribute to the people strategy and organisational success.
This appointment attracts a salary of £50,000 - £55,000 per annum, pro rata, plus benefits including 25 holiday days + 8 bank holidays, NHS Pension Scheme, travel and expenses scheme, career opportunities, training and development opportunities, access to employee perks and discounts, and an Employee Assistance Programme.

Person SpecificationEssential criteria
- Substantial specialist knowledge of HR policies and procedures and associated Employment Law and complex cases.
- Ability to build effective and trusting business partnering relationships.
- Excellent emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
- Competent IT skills.
- Ability to work at a strategic level developing new business and HR solutions to meet business needs.
- Strong communication skills to establish good working relationships with leaders, colleagues and external organisations.
- Able to use initiative, multitask and prioritise diverse workload and deadlines.
- Ability to be responsible and accountable for decision making.
- Evidence of ongoing Continuing Professional Development.
Desirable criteria
- Familiar with the use of iTrent and Trac systems.
Essential
- Demonstrable extensive HR experience in a business partnering role (ideally in healthcare).
- Significant experience of advising on HR policy, Employment Law and best practice.
- Significant experience of organisational change (e.g., TUPE, restructuring, redundancy).
- Experience of planning and delivering people initiatives, including talent management, workforce planning and performance management.
- Ability to work at both a strategic and operational level.
Desirable
- Experience of working with the NHS or public sector terms and conditions of service.
- Experience of working in HR in a regulated activity organisation.
- Essential: Educated to masters level in Human Resources or equivalent experience.
- Desirable: MCIPD.
