Engineering Director of Automated Systems

This role is pivotal in supporting all operational activities related to automated control systems within biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments and equipment.
The position involves conceptual design, project scope definition, system specifications development, PLC, HMI, and DCS programming, testing, verification, validation, and documentation.
Key responsibilities include managing labor and facility resources for the Automation Engineering Department.
Manage automated equipment control system design, development, programming, testing, and implementation. Create and maintain project plans, allocating departmental resources to current and anticipated projects.
Collaborate with Project Management to meet project specifications, timelines, and budgets.
Support customer service activities, including automation system upgrades, retrofits, and repairs. Drive Continuous Improvement within the Automation Department, developing strategies for cost, lead time, and quality improvements.
Develop functional leadership throughout the Automation Department. Provide automation system cost and lead time estimates for project and service-related sales quotations.
Interface with Project Management and Product Management to ensure a technically feasible and commercially competitive product offering.
Qualifications- Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline (preferably Automation/Computer Engineering or related field).
- Minimum 6 years prior experience in automation engineering, with at least 3 years in a management role.
- Certification in Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma is highly desirable.
