Automation Technician

The role of Automation Technician III is to maintain a continuous operation of the automated material handling system. The technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and performing preventive maintenance activities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all systems and subsystems of the automated material handling system during normal operation and perform preventative maintenance (PMs) and inspections during periodic downtime windows.
  • Ensure rapid equipment return to serviceability by performing thorough in-depth troubleshooting on any non-functioning or faulted system, subsystem or component.
  • Remove and replace mechanical or electro-mechanical parts of the conveyor system such as broken chain, belting, rollers, drive motors; realign or replace control system sensors (photo-eyes), proximity sensors, etc.
  • Replace electrical or mechanical components of autonomous robots and perform preventive maintenance. Proficient in performing Preventive Maintenance on multi-axis robots and End Of Arm Tools.
  • Document repairs, PMs, parts usage, and time by completing work orders in a computerized maintenance data collection system.
  • Cleanup of equipment and removal of replaced parts from work areas after repairs are completed.
Work Environment:
  • Warehouse: Grocery Warehouse (50F to 90F)
  • Warehouse: Perishable Warehouse (28F to 60F)
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Ability to use basic hand tools and electrical measuring equipment.
  • Ability to use and navigate computers and common computer software.
  • Equipment inspections, mechanical repairs and replacements, electrical repairs and replacements.
  • Good mobility, physical exertion, walking, bending, reaching, climbing ladders, carrying tools and parts.
  • Ability to work independent of supervisor following procedures and manuals and a high sense of urgency.
