Senior Design Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our engineering group, the Senior Design Engineer will be responsible for leading due diligence investigations, design, and engineering analyses of various types of retail, commercial, industrial, and residential site layouts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Determine land development limitations for properties by reviewing municipal zoning and land development ordinances and applicable agency regulations.
  • Prepare comprehensive Site Investigation and Due Diligence Reports, including utility service research, outside agency regulations, and site visits.
  • Develop Conceptual Site Plans that meet client needs.
  • Design preliminary Grading Plans and Designs.
  • Design Stormwater Management and Stormwater Conveyance Systems, Utility Systems, and Soil Erosion and Sediment Control Design Plans.
  • Estimate construction costs for projects.
  • Develop project proposals.
  • Manage project budgets.
  • Collaborate with clients, consultants, and project teams to prepare comprehensive site plans.
  • Write technical reports on drainage, sanitary sewer, and site investigation.
  • Communicate with outside agencies, clients, contractors, etc., through written correspondence.
  • Present to planning and zoning boards, municipal agencies, and project teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • At least 3 years' experience in Civil Site Engineering (residential, institutional, industrial, and/or commercial site design and permitting).
  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification required.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to operate personal and/or company vehicles.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D software.
  • Familiarity with Truck and Turning & Modeling software.
  • In-depth knowledge of the planning and zoning process.
  • Familiarity with Hydrologic and Hydraulic and Stormwater Design principles.
  • Proficiency in design and drafting capabilities.
  • Proficiency in grading and drainage design skills.
  • Experience with utility design, including pump station and force mains.
  • Experience dealing with regulatory agencies and review professionals.
  • Familiarity with mapping websites for due diligence and site investigation purposes.
  • Construction support experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Software, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam Revu and/or Adobe for design document markups.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Independent thinking abilities.
  • Superior organizational and delegation ability.
  • Able to work and lead in a team-oriented environment.
  • Client management experience.
