Highway Design Specialist Position

The role of Highway Engineer involves working as a key member of a highway/roadway design team for moderate to large projects, and independently on smaller projects. This position requires expertise in designing and managing highway infrastructure projects from conceptualization to completion.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Designing roadways and highways using local or AASHTO standards, including horizontal and vertical alignments, roadway sections, intersection layouts, and sight distance determinations.
  • Managing project schedules, budgets, and scopes, ensuring timely delivery and cost-effectiveness.
  • Coordinating with clients, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and client satisfaction is achieved.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Five years of experience in transportation engineering design, preferably with PennDOT / PTC projects.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Bentley ConceptStation and Open Roads Designer, as well as Autodesk Infraworks and Civil3d.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills.

Required qualifications include:

  • A Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location.
  • Hands-on experience with Highways and Roads CAD engineering software.
  • MS Office knowledge.
