Job Title: Software Engineering Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a seasoned engineering professional to spearhead the revitalization of our Landscape systems management solution.

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical foundation, exceptional leadership skills, and extensive experience in software development. They will be responsible for building and leading a team of engineers, fostering talent through coaching and mentoring, and contributing to strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a high-performing team of engineers.
  • Develop and grow talent through expert coaching, mentoring, and career development.
  • Apply sound engineering principles and directly contribute toward your team's objectives.
  • Set and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Lead modern, agile software development methodologies.
  • Ensure a healthy, collaborative engineering culture aligned with company values.
  • Collaborate closely with other leaders in the organization.
  • Design and implement automated, highly reliable image delivery, testing, and publication pipelines.
  • Engage effectively with multiple teams at Canonical, as well as the open-source community and commercial partners.

Requirements:

  • You are passionate about mentoring, developing, and growing people, with a proven track record.
  • You possess expertise and enthusiasm for software development.
  • You focus on delivering timely, high-quality software solutions.
  • You have experience and commitment to agile development methodologies.
  • You hold a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
  • Software development experience in Python or Golang is essential.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills are vital.
  • Practical experience with Linux system administration is required.
