Job Overview

As a Cloud Support Engineer, you will play a critical role in building a career with Canonical by supporting the technical needs of customers leveraging Ubuntu and open source products.

The successful candidate will have strong technical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a passion for delivering high-quality customer support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate issues reported by customers through research and escalation
  • Work to resolve complex customer problems related to Canonical's portfolio of products
  • Ensure each support case is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction by setting the right expectations and fulfilling commitments
  • Engage directly with customers and work collaboratively to resolve their issues
  • Participate in regular weekend working rotations
  • Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing ones to ensure shared knowledge and lessons learned are available to customers

Requirements

  • Strong written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or an alternative chosen path with compelling narrative
  • Track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results
  • Hands-on experience in supporting Linux systems including virtualization/cloud, containers, storage technologies, and networking
  • Cloud computing expertise in provisioning, monitoring, orchestration, etc.
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience, solid understanding of OS and application level bugs, and ability to navigate stack traces and logs
  • Programming fundamentals in any language
  • Extensive customer support experience with a focus on customer needs and professional communication
  • Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long
