The Medical Assistant will play a crucial role in our clinical operations by providing essential support to the medical team, patients, and the infusion center.
This position requires a high level of communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with other staff members, patients, and physicians.
The Medical Assistant will be responsible for welcoming patients, assisting medical staff, and delivering safe, compassionate care in accordance with all external and internal guidelines and regulations.
This includes performing various patient care activities, rendering quality patient care in accordance with standards of practice, rooms clinic patients in person or virtually, updates patient chart with required information, communicates pertinent patient data to providers and nurses to ensure quality and continuity of patient care.
The Medical Assistant will also provide administrative and front-end support, greeting patients, assisting with scheduling, managing phone calls (incoming and outgoing), and processing payments. The individual will oversee and ensures efficient turnover of exam rooms, assists provider in the exam room as requested, collects, prepares, and submits ordered patient lab specimens as directed.
Additionally, the Medical Assistant will assist Patient Services team as needed to obtain prior authorizations for prescribed treatments and documents, triages patient phone calls and messages, and documents them appropriately. Orders and manages supplies under the direction of the manager, disinfects and stocks the exam rooms, assists in obtaining records required for the patient's chart, and demonstrates effective communication skills, reporting patient issues as needed throughout the treatment day.
Follows company policies and CDC guidelines for infection control. This role also involves assisting with proper handling and storage of hazardous materials, maintains confidentiality of all company and patient records, adheres to HIPAA, communicates schedule changes to the team, and assists with rescheduling patients.
Manages incoming mail and deliveries. Ensures all tasks are completed accurately and efficiently, and that all necessary documentation is maintained. A Medical Assistant Certification or Registration is required, along with a High School Diploma or Equivalent, and 6 months of clinical experience. CPR/BLS certification is also required. 1 year in an administrative or customer service role is preferred, as well as phlebotomy and lab processing skills.
