Job Summary

The Direct Care Worker role involves providing essential support and assistance to individuals who need help with daily living activities. Your primary responsibility is to ensure clients' comfort, safety, and well-being while promoting independence and dignity.

As a Direct Care Worker, you will be responsible for assisting clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting. You will also provide companionship and emotional support, prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs and preferences, and assist with medication reminders if permitted by regulations.

Additionally, you will perform light housekeeping duties such as laundry, dishwashing, and tidying living areas. You will monitor and report changes in clients' physical or emotional condition to appropriate personnel and accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, or social activities if needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist clients with ADLs, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support.
  • Prepare and serve meals according to dietary needs and preferences.
  • Assist with medication reminders if permitted by regulations.
  • Perform light housekeeping duties, such as laundry, dishwashing, and tidying living areas.
  • Monitor and report changes in clients' physical or emotional condition to appropriate personnel.
  • Accompany clients to medical appointments, errands, or social activities if needed.
Requirements & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you should possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Prior caregiving experience preferred but not always required.
  • Certification as a Home Health Aide (HHA) or Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) required by state regulations.
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
  • Ability to lift and assist clients as needed.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassionate, patient, and reliable.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a care team.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role may require working in private homes, assisted living facilities, or healthcare settings. You may be required to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
