Key Skills and Qualifications for a Social and Emotional Learning Specialist

We are seeking an expert in developing and implementing strategies to support the mental health and wellbeing of pupils.

  • The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills, flexibility, and creativity. A proactive team player who is passionate about wellbeing in schools and resourceful in SEL strategies.

A solid understanding of children's psychological and behavioral needs between 3-11 years of age, combining clinical and classroom experience, is essential.

About the Role

This role involves:

  • Developing and implementing individual SEL targets and goals for pupils through regular support in class, small groups or 1:1 sessions.
  • Observing and supporting relationships during breaktime and lunch, working closely with teachers and other support staff to implement SEL strategies.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to develop targeted interventions to prevent bullying and promote positive pupil behaviour.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree qualification in Psychology and/or Pedagogia/Psicopedagogia.
  • Fluency in English and Portuguese.
  • Full working knowledge of Information Technology, including Office 365.
