Personal Lines Product Development Manager

The role of the Personal Lines Product Development Manager involves spearheading the development of personal lines products, collaborating with a team to strike a balance between end-user experiences and rating and underwriting requirements. Strong communication skills are essential for explaining complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proficiency in Excel for ROI analyses is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Product Management: Manage all aspects of product and staff within assigned products or product segments, assessing profitability, growth, competitors' strategies, and initiative changes to the products or product segments.
  2. Profit/Loss Leadership: Lead profit/losses for assigned products or product segments, taking a leadership role in products or product segments (mid-high level of complexity/impact) as assigned by Senior Product Development Manager.
  3. Strategic Planning: Develop long- and short-term plans for assigned products or product segments with corresponding personal lines staff and field management staff, negotiating and setting priorities to align product or product segment goals with corresponding personal lines and field management goals.
  4. Risk Selection and Pricing: Develop and implement risk selection, pricing, and contract changes for products or product segments.
  5. New Product Development: Develop and implement new products or product segments, securing funding and required resources, including senior management approval when appropriate. Manage the analysis and research performed in the development of their product or product segment and its alignment with others.
  6. IT and Business Operations Collaboration: Collaborate with IT and Business Operations to plan system changes and develop requirements.
  7. Product Implementation: Develop product implementation procedures to ensure an orderly change or rollout, facilitating through other parts of the organization to accomplish results.
  8. Team Supervision and Development: Stay abreast of industry developments, recruiting, training, and developing Product Development Managers, Asst Product Development Managers, and Product Analysts to cover evolving business needs. Supervise one or two Product Development Managers I, Assistant Product Development Managers, Product Analysts, or Product Specialists, performing other duties as assigned.
