About the Role

Our objective is to deliver complex judicial proceedings in Samarco Judicial reorganization and remediation projects. Key responsibilities include managing counsel coordination and collaborating with team members for productive discussions and alignment.


  • Skillfully negotiate with public entities, regulators, local communities, and other stakeholders; develop strong relationships with internal and external partners.
  • Maintain judicial proceedings in challenging environments to enhance BHP's position in litigation and optimize deliveries in remediation efforts.

Core Responsibilities

Key accountabilities involve supporting and managing BHP, Samarco, and Renova in legal and administrative proceedings of various matters, complexities, and jurisdictions.

  • Judicial Reorganization lawsuit - JR
  • Samarco Civil Liabilities
  • Samarco Tax Liabilities
  • IRDR cases
  • Samarco Legal Committee
  • Samarco Tax Subcommittee
  • Samarco Mining, Environmental, Labor, and other matters
  • Renova programs related to remediation

Additional Accountabilities

We require support for Legal Brasil in BHP Global Projects.

  • Provide support to Head of Legal on day-to-day legal matters relating to BHP's presence in Brazil.
  • Act as a backup for other Legal Team members.
  • Publish legal advice in diverse matters.
  • Deliver reports (Periodic reports, Business Plan, Annual Report, Auditors Report, etc.).
  • Analyze annual budget (BHP and Samarco).
  • Manage law firms/technical assistants.
  • Review and approve invoices of law firms, technical assistants, legal scholars, and other service providers.
