Project Coordinator for Community-Based Tourism in Brazil

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Coordinator to support the development of community-based tourism projects in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with local communities to enhance the quality and impact of their tourism initiatives.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Mentor local communities to improve tourism quality and impact.
  • Enhance technical skills: guiding, storytelling, and group management.
  • Advise on governance to ensure long-term local participation.
  • Help refine commercialization strategies to attract clients and stabilize income.
  • Build a trusting partnership with the Community-Based Tourism (CBT) organization.
  • Conduct a follow-up monitoring of the support provided to maximize its effectiveness.
  • Provide consistent reporting, ensuring transparency and accountability to the NGO coordination.
Requirements:
  • Clear communication skills
  • Passion to try and make the world better
  • Pro-active and independent
  • Experience mentoring community-based tourism organizations
  • Great monitoring and reporting skills
  • Ability to focus on priorities and to say "no" to things
  • Done is better than perfect approach
  • Positive, empathetic attitude
  • Native level of Portuguese or C1 level
  • Fluent verbal and written English OR Spanish skills
