About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Data Governance Strategist to join our team at BRP. As a Data Governance Strategist, you will play a key role in establishing and maintaining a robust data governance framework that ensures the accuracy, consistency, and security of our data assets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement data governance policies, procedures, and standards that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and mitigate data-related risks and ensure compliance with data frameworks.
  • Provide strategic guidance on data management and governance to business stakeholders, including data producers and users.
  • Develop and maintain data quality metrics and reports to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
  • Partner with IT to design and implement data governance solutions that meet business needs and ensure data integrity.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to educate business stakeholders on data governance best practices and policies.
  • Conduct regular audits and assessments to ensure data governance policies and procedures are being followed.
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends and technologies in data governance and make recommendations for implementation.
Requirements
  • Relevant post-secondary education in data management, computer science, business, economics, operations research, engineering, statistics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in data management, data governance, change management, and implementation of complex technology systems.
  • Strong knowledge of data governance and data quality concepts, as well as best practices.
  • Good knowledge of data privacy regulations, such as GDPR, CCPA, and Privacy Act Canada.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of data governance platforms, such as Collibra, Alation, or AXON.
  • Experience working with data visualization tools, such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Knowledge of database structures and querying tools, such as SQL or MySQL.
  • Certification in data governance or data management, such as DAMA Certified Data Management Professional or ICCP Data Governance & Stewardship Professional.
