As a Lead Character Artist, you will oversee a team of artists working on major initiatives within Fortnite. You'll work closely with the art and design departments to create and iterate on exciting characters that meet Epic's high standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Designing characters and enemies based on direction from the project Art Director and input from the game design team
  • Collaborating on the visual style to ensure our designs meet quality standards
  • Pushing the visual envelope by creating stunning characters
  • Creating and iterating unique designs within a determined production schedule
  • Partnering with other departments to ensure models work within the project workflow

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Mentorship and coaching skills to develop a growing team of artists
  • Experience in game art asset creation using software packages like Maya, 3ds Max, Zbrush, Photoshop, and Substance
  • A strong portfolio showcasing modern fashion-forward aesthetics
  • A balance between creativity and technical function
  • Ability to work within gameplay design restraints and translate those restrictions into visuals that enhance the experience
