Job Description

This is a senior-level leadership position that demands technical expertise and people management skills.

The successful candidate will have experience in software development, distributed systems, and Linux. They will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, setting expectations with other engineering teams, and participating in the engineering process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a distributed team of engineers in your time zone
  • Talent development through coaching, mentoring, feedback, and career planning
  • Setting and managing expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholders
  • Participating in the engineering process through code and architectural review
  • Engaging with broader teams at Canonical, the open source community, and partners
  • Traveling to internal and external global events for 4 to 6 weeks per year

Required Skills and Qualifications

This role requires exceptional academic achievement from high school and university, as well as an undergraduate degree in a technical subject.

The successful candidate will possess confidence in communicating ideas, providing feedback, and sharing thoughts without hesitation.

A track record of exceeding expectations, coupled with leadership and commitment to skills development and mentorship, is essential.

Passion for technology, demonstrated by personal projects and initiatives, is highly valued.

The individual must possess excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and accountability.

Able to travel internationally twice a year for company events up to two weeks long.
