Position Overview

We are in search of a Regulatory Compliance Specialist from the apparel and textile sector to ensure robust oversight of Social Compliance, Vendor Compliance, and Licensor Compliance. This role involves close collaboration with the Compliance Manager and Vendor Compliance Specialist to ensure that the organization meets all legal obligations for the regions it distributes products to. A meticulous approach, strong analytical capabilities, and effective collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline (preferred)
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a comparable role, ideally within global sourcing entities, brands, or retail operations.

Technical Expertise & Skills

  • Familiarity with the USA compliance landscape
  • Experience with companies engaged in wholesale distribution
  • Ability to communicate effectively with international vendors
  • Extensive experience in a compliance-oriented role
  • Strong understanding of international labor standards and expectations from reputable brands/retailers (Higg/Worldly, Chemical Management, ZDHC, SLCP, BSCI, WRAP, SMETA SA8000, etc.)
  • Experience managing vendor compliance for major retail chains
  • Proficient in navigating retailer vendor platforms, manuals, and guidelines.
  • Knowledge of packaging requirements, UCC labels, ASNs, etc.
  • Strong analytical skills to monitor and evaluate compliance data.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Key Responsibilities

Factory Compliance Oversight

  • Evaluate potential factories for their capability to meet global compliance standards (Responsible Sourcing, Social Compliance, Health & Safety).
  • Advise on factory suitability to production teams.
  • Assist factories in enhancing their Social and Sustainability objectives.
  • Ensure factories are accurately registered in the Global Matrix for retail clients and licenses.
  • Verify that all documentation, certifications, and legal authorizations are complete and current.
  • Maintain and update internal databases.
  • Manage factory deactivation within the Global Matrix.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Manager to establish goals and prioritize tasks.

Reporting & Data Analysis

  • Proactively identify factories with compliance challenges.
  • Collaborate with the Compliance Manager and factories to implement corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Escalate critical factory issues to the Compliance Manager for risk management.
  • Support factories in resolving compliance challenges through effective problem-solving.

Ethics

  • Report any unauthorized subcontracting to the Compliance Manager.
  • Raise concerns regarding team members or factory integrity issues.
  • Maintain complete objectivity and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
