About the Role

As a Logistics Transportation Manager at S. C. Johnson & Son, Inc., you will be responsible for the overall management and performance of the Distribution Centers, including office and warehouse operations, customer relations, information technology, quality, and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and direct all direct reports to ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation and utilization of the facility.
  • Plan long-range labor needs based on sales forecasts and input from management.
  • Develop a space utilization plan to meet prescribed cost and service standards.
  • Direct and supervise the scheduling of incoming and outgoing shipments to ensure efficient resource utilization and achievement of customer relations goals.
  • Focus on continuous improvement and make recommendations to senior management on programs to improve operations, delivering savings year over year to achieve budgeted targets.
Labor Management
  • Direct the operations to achieve prescribed objectives.
  • Develop and maintain a productive work team by creating programs for hiring, training, and professional development.
  • Match the skill and background of personnel to the work required.
  • Apply sound communication and motivational techniques, create programs to supervise, counsel, and discipline associates.
  • Implement an appropriate performance evaluation system for recommending promotions, wage increases, and terminations.
Equipment/Safety
  • Ensure that procedures are in place for the efficient operation and utilization of all warehouse equipment.
  • Direct programs to ensure the safety of all personnel, equipment, and property.
  • Provide safety instruction to personnel as needed.
  • Report all work-related injuries immediately.
Relationships: Customers Internal and External
  • Continually maintain a professional and courteous relationship with all customers internal and external.
  • Foster end-to-end relationships in order to achieve supply end-to-end objectives.
  • Oversee carrier services by specifying routings and transportation extra expenses.
  • Supervise the Risk Management Supplier system.
Inventory Management
  • Ensure current and accurate inventory control for all products.
  • Ensure the creation of the necessary warehouse information systems to meet company objectives and facilitate the efficient operations of the warehouse.
Security
  • Ensure the security of the facility, its environs, employees, and contents.
Documentation / Reporting
  • Prepares budget.
  • Oversees billings and record payments of freight bills.
  • Establishes a financial audit for fleet operations to determine its efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
