Chief Accountant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Chief Accountant to join our team. As a key member of the finance department, you will be responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, ensuring compliance with local legislation and internal guidelines.

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting. They will also possess excellent leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performing team.

In this role, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the fixed asset register and supervising asset accounting;
  • Maintaining accounts payable and receivable ledgers, and ensuring timely payment runs;
  • Responsible for period closing, including monthly and annual closings, and communication of the closing timetable within the organization;

You will also be required to:

  • Prepare annual statutory financial statements;
  • Conduct thorough reviews of all monthly reports and financial statements prior to submission to HQ or authorities;
  • Build a team of highly engaged and motivated people, develop and update job descriptions for Accounting staff, and ensure sufficient resources are in place;

To be considered for this role, you will need to have:

  • A relevant accounting qualification (Certified Management Accountant);
  • Relevant accounting experience in a similar organization;
  • Vast knowledge of local tax regulations, local GAAP and IFRS;
  • Strong leadership skills;
  • IT literate and SAP knowledge;
  • Must be self-motivated, self-directed, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment;
  • Fluent English.
