  • The primary function of this role is to oversee the month-end close process.
  • Preparation and submission of reports to regulatory bodies such as CADOCs 4010, 4016, 4111, 4050, 9010 and 9011 are also essential duties.
  • Preparation of financial statements for both the bank and holding entities is a critical task.
  • This role involves managing the entity-wide Balance Sheet Reconciliation Process (BSRS).
  • Responsibilities include reconciliation and GL review processes/projects involving data manipulation and spreadsheets.
  • Calculation of amounts and raising relevant general ledger journals for specific accounts is an integral part of this job.
  • Financial and regulatory reporting to group as required is another significant responsibility.
  • Work on projects to automate and streamline areas of the month-end process, including offshoring, is also a key duty.
  • Compliance with all relevant internal and external regulations and procedures that apply to the conduct of the business is crucial.
  • Production and review of primary and supplementary data for group reporting together with detailed business commentary is a vital task.
  • Liaising with business and other support areas; challenging numbers and obtaining necessary information are essential skills.
  • Managing stakeholders and producing ad-hoc analysis for senior management is another significant responsibility.
  • Participating in local product discussions is also a key duty.
  • Contributing to system changes and transformation projects is an integral part of this job.
  • Implementing new reporting requirements is another significant responsibility.
  • Closely liaising with auditors and facilitating their requests is also a key duty.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant with proficiency in IFRS and Bacen GAAP.
  • Ability to understand HSBC's activities, products, processes, and systems.
  • Ability to analyze data and possess medium to advanced Excel and database skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with good tact and diplomacy.
  • Excellent time management and prioritization of work tasks.
  • Self-motivated, enthusiastic, and rapid learning capability.
  • Experience working in an accounting role for a financial institution.
  • English and Portuguese proficiency.
  • Accounting degree.
  • Confidence in dealing with various stakeholders, strong self-awareness, and ability to work independently using own initiative.
