About the Role

As a Venue Technology Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Technology team with venue-specific technology deliverables for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 (FWWC 2027) in Brazil. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with all relevant parties to plan, implement, and operate all Event Technology services pertinent to the tournament and associated events within Brazil.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex IT programs and projects, as well as experience managing teams in similar projects. Additionally, they should possess up-to-date knowledge of event-related technologies, including CATV, radio communications, wired communications, printing, broadcast contribution network, spectrum, audio, and visual.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of Technology, Telecommunications, and Broadcast Technology Services are implemented in accordance with pre-agreed FIFA Technology requirements at the assigned venue(s). They will also manage a diverse Venue Technology team comprising paid staff, contractors, and volunteers for operating the technology services at the assigned venue(s).

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure all aspects of Technology, Telecommunications, and Broadcast Technology Services are implemented in accordance with pre-agreed FIFA Technology requirements at the assigned venue(s).
  • Manage a diverse Venue Technology team comprising paid staff, contractors, and volunteers for operating the technology services at the assigned venue(s).
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, clients, providers, and government entities to deliver technology services across all venues according to the defined governance structure.
  • Contribute to the venue technology working groups across planning, implementation, readiness, and operations.
  • Manage technology demand/needs for technology services across the tournament space (Technology Equipment Allocation Process).
  • Plan delivery of end-user technology equipment and services to all FWWC 2027 departments and FIFA constituent groups, including hardware, services, and consumables.
  • Coordinate collection and distribution of technology requirements from all client groups involved in FWWC 2027 (Media, Broadcast, Guest Operations, Commercial, Football Technology, etc.).
  • Ensure information pertaining to infrastructure, services, and spaces needed for delivery and support of technology services is communicated to venue/site authorities and delivery teams.
  • Provide guidance on venue build-out and technology services implementation, including commissioning and decommissioning of tournament venues.
  • Collaborate with assigned personnel and Stadium partners to enable/support timely delivery of venue technology services.
  • Develop regular progress, risk, and issue management reports in accordance with governance structures and PMO systems.
  • Manage on-site IT Technicians and support teams during tournament operations, including end-of-day reporting and incident escalation to IT Command Centre.
Requirements
  • University degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 8 years IT experience and at least 4 years in a similar role.
  • Experience in the Sports/major event industry is required.
  • Proven track record of delivering complex IT programs and projects.
  • Experience managing teams in similar projects.
  • Knowledge of venue technology services across major sporting events.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of event-related technologies, including CATV, radio communications, wired communications, printing, broadcast contribution network, spectrum, audio, and visual.
  • Strong professional demeanor and cross-group collaboration skills.
  • Ability to lead virtual teams, manage conflicts, and drive consensus to meet milestones.
  • Leadership and ability to motivate team members.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Ability to adapt communication to diverse audiences.
  • Leadership and accountability across relevant areas.
  • Strong political acumen and adaptability to various working environments.
  • Right to work in Brazil.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written) and Portuguese (spoken and written).
  • Proficiency in additional FIFA languages (FR/ES/GER) is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel within Brazil (up to 20%), with some longer trips (15 days or more).
  • Ability to relocate to Rio de Janeiro.
