Product Planning Specialist Job Description

The Product Planning Specialist plays a vital role in aligning product development with market needs, technical feasibility, and operational efficiency.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Market Analysis: Conducts market research to identify customer demands and translate them into actionable insights for production and R&D planning.
  • Product Development: Collaborates with cross-functional teams to define product portfolios, features, and launch strategies that meet market requirements.
  • Data Analysis: Analyzes field data and product performance to support Manufacturing and Quality teams in identifying improvement opportunities.
  • Reporting: Prepares clear and concise management reports by consolidating market, field, and product performance data to support strategic decisions.
  • Competitive Benchmarking: Conducts competitive benchmarking and market analysis to support innovation and differentiation strategies.
  • Product Specification: Ensures that market requirements are reflected in product specifications and development priorities through liaison work with commercial and technical teams.
  • New Product Development: Supports the feasibility assessment and concept validation of new products or enhancements, ensuring alignment with technical, cost, and time-to-market goals.
  • Product Lifecycle Management: Monitors existing product lines, assisting in lifecycle management decisions such as upgrades, repositioning, or phase-outs.
  • Global Feedback Integration: Integrates regional feedback to ensure product relevance and competitiveness across markets.
  • Continuous Improvement: Contributes to the continuous optimization of product cost, quality, and customer satisfaction through data-driven recommendations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Product Design, or a related field.
  • Experience in product planning, product development, or R&D interface roles.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate data into strategic recommendations.
  • Experience with cross-functional collaboration involving Sales, R&D, Manufacturing, and After-Sales.
  • Familiarity with product development processes (e.g., stage-gate, PLM systems).
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence across levels.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and data visualization/reporting tools (e.g., Power BI).
  • Fluency in English required; Spanish is a plus.
