Job DescriptionThe selected candidate will perform assessments, testing for individual, family, and group counseling, coordinating and implementing treatment plans as needed. They will also provide crisis intervention when necessary, serving adults, adolescents, children, families, and couples using knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients.
In concert with psychiatrists, the Neuropsychologist maintains a team approach in treating patients, adhering to professional and ethical guidelines as outlined by mental health care organizations and associations.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct scientific studies of behavior patterns and cognitive function.
- Observe and interview individuals, recording the interactions.
- Research psychological, emotional, behavioral, or organizational patterns and identify issues.
- Diagnose potential disorders.
- Discuss possible methods of treatment with patients.
- Research and write papers on clinical psychology issues and disorders.
- Perform appropriate treatment services to assigned clients, using interventions that meet accepted standards of mental health care and reflect consideration of treatment plans.
- Provide crisis management for assigned cases and backup for the program.
- Maintain a certain number of weekly scheduled client hours as required by departmental needs and standards.
- Participate as a treatment team member, maintaining a current level of psychological theory and practice.
- Attend clinical supervision meetings and staff meetings as scheduled, coming prepared.
- Keep current with professional literature and trends in mental health.
- Attend continuing education trainings, workshops, seminars, or conferences to stay current with evidenced-based standards of practice and maintain licensure.
- Communicate effectively with identified staff and agencies that share case involvement when appropriate releases are signed.
- Maintain accurate records of service rendered to or on behalf of the client populations served.
A Clinical PsyD or PhD in clinical Psychology or a related area is required. Preference is given to graduates from a Neuropsychological curriculum, as well as those with rehab psychology or Neuropsychology internship and 2-year post-doc experience. Clinical training must include diagnostic skills and clinical interventions meeting accepted and current standards of care.
The Neuropsychologist must be knowledgeable in Neuropsychological Assessment and Psychological related to Psychiatric Diagnosis assessments, including outpatient evaluations, Neuropsychological Testing, Report Writing & Interpretation, Feedback, Therapy. The ability to perform pre-surgical epilepsy evaluations and potentially Wada's is also required.
Physical and Sensory RequirementsThe Neuropsychologist must be able to communicate effectively (both verbally and in writing) and possess positive interpersonal skills. They should be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods, requiring some light lifting. Potential participation in therapeutic recreational activities may also be involved.
