Medical Manager Requirements

At Johnson & Johnson, we are searching for a Medical Manager to join our team. This role will be responsible for managing a team of individual contributors and/or supervisors, and is accountable for conducting effective performance management.

The Medical Manager will assist with external stakeholder management, scientific communications, evidence generation, publications, and medical education activities. They will also define standards for the review and approval of promotional and non-promotional materials to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.

  • Developing tactical and operational plans to aid in the creation of promotional and non-promotional materials, including publications, scientific or technical literature, and training, education, and disease-state awareness materials.
  • Responsible for managing operational aspects of their team (e.g., workflow, performance, and compliance), as well as ensuring achievement of team goals within established timelines and budgets.

We are looking for a candidate with a deep knowledge of drug development process, including clinical epidemiology, randomized controlled trials, and publication plans. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of work experience as a Medical Manager, preferably in the pharma industry, ideally in Medical Affairs with a minimum of three years of experience in a relevant area. A proven track record of leading people with complex accountabilities and broad experience working with teams outside of medical affairs is essential.

The successful candidate will possess excellent communication and presentation skills, business acumen, teamwork, negotiation, coaching and influencing skills – able to work effectively in a matrix. Proven capability in attracting and developing talent to support future succession needs is also required. Deep understanding in healthcare and medical compliance, as well as proven capacity to work through complexity, difficulty, and adverse situations with agility and adaptability, are highly valued.

Medical Manager Responsibilities

Key Qualifications:

  • MD desirable.

  • 3-5 Years Work Experience as Medical Manager, preferred in pharma industry ideally in Medical Affairs with a minimum of three years of experience in a relevant area.
