Job Summary

ProVeg Brazil is seeking a highly skilled Public Policy Manager to support our ambitious campaigns to promote the reduction of animal consumption in line with our 5 Pros (Pro-Health, Environment, Animals, Justice, and Taste) in Brazil. The ideal candidate will have experience building relationships and articulating initiatives with policymakers, other non-profits, and the civil society.

The Public Policy Manager will report primarily to the Country Director at ProVeg Brazil and will work collaboratively with other departments, especially the UN international team, to advance our public education, food policy, and public policy initiatives. The successful candidate will also work closely with allied organizations and nurture relationships to foster successful coalitions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a public affairs strategy to promote food system change and enhance the position of plant-based foods and other alternatives to animal products.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with external stakeholders, including government officials, policymakers, and other organizations.
  • Lead public-facing campaigns to promote food system change and enhance the position of plant-based foods and other alternatives to animal products.
  • Map law bills, regulations, and other policies in Brazil that are linked to ProVeg's work area and manage a project to publish this database online.
  • Keep abreast of political developments, parliamentary, and regulatory activities, and communicate any developments/insights to relevant stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in International Studies, Politics, Law, Public Affairs, or similar.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing policy outputs and track record of social sector, food, or environment advocacy plans that effect change (minimum of three years).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and diplomacy skills.
  • Understanding of UN programmes and agendas (such as UNFCCC, UNEP, FAO, SDGs, etc.).
  • Fluent verbal and written Portuguese and English language skills.
