About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Lead Game Software Engineer to be part of Wildlife's Live Games Technology Team.

In this role, you will report directly to the Technical Director of the game and will be instrumental in the development of one of our flagship live games, enjoyed by millions globally. As a lead engineer, you will engage in the complete game development lifecycle, making critical decisions regarding the software architecture and technology framework. Your responsibilities will extend beyond software architecture; you will also contribute to the design and execution of various technical components of the game, including gameplay mechanics, metagame logic, and game economy, applicable to both mobile applications and server-side operations. You will mentor fellow engineers in overcoming complex technical challenges, collaborate with the project tech lead to elevate the technical standards of our projects, and share your expertise across the team. This position is focused on individual contributions, allowing you to delve deeply into technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish the overall software architecture for new game initiatives and features;
  • Collaborate on significant technical decisions and validate engineering projects for the game;
  • Design, implement, and test metagame business logic for game applications and services, including API development;
  • Estimate engineering tasks while considering dependencies and risks, and plan roadmaps, releases, and sprints for team members;
  • Ensure timely communication of development status and risks to relevant stakeholders;
  • Proactively identify process issues and propose enhancements;
  • Assist in resolving the most challenging technical problems in the game, partnering with team members for solutions;
  • Guide junior engineers towards achieving technical excellence in projects;
  • Identify inefficiencies in current engineering practices and recommend systems, tools, or processes for improvement;
  • Contribute to establishing a robust engineering culture, including practices like code reviews, pair programming, architecture assessments, and automated testing targets;
  • Deploy new versions to production and monitor metrics and user feedback post-release.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional software development experience;
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field;
  • Experience managing large-scale systems (millions of users);
  • Preferred: experience in the gaming sector, particularly mobile gaming.
