Job Summary:

Vice President of Government Affairs and Policy
  • Elevate Mastercard's presence in Brazil Division: Develop strategic plans to navigate the competitive environment, foster key customer relationships, and protect corporate reputation.
  • Influence policy landscape: Analyze and shape the policy environment concerning payments, financial inclusion, digital economy, and competition policy.
  • Represent the company externally: Collaborate with executives to develop and execute outreach strategies, ensuring seamless government relations. Represent Mastercard before executive branch agencies, legislative bodies, and regulatory authorities.
  • Engage with external experts: Partner with consultants to develop and implement strategies supporting the execution of Mastercard's goals.
  • Cultivate relationships: Foster partnerships with key constituents to determine optimal relationship-building approaches and avoid adverse legislative or regulatory actions.
  • Lead internal workgroups: Identify, convene, and lead teams evaluating public policy decisions' impact and analyzing proposals' business implications.

Requirements:

  • Proven track record: Extensive experience in public policy, legislative, or government affairs positions, preferably in the payments industry or financial services sector.
  • Creative problem-solving: Good judgment, a creative approach to problem-solving, and ability to function as a team player.
  • Exceptional communication skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and Portuguese, enabling effective collaboration with business partners across Brazil Division, the United States, and colleagues in other regions.
