We are seeking skilled and motivated individuals to fill the role of Peer Support Specialist. This is an exciting opportunity for enthusiastic and detail-oriented professionals who wish to support student retention and success through peer-to-peer mentoring.

About the Role

The Peer Support Specialist will provide guidance to students to help them navigate class registration, refer them to other campus services, and support student success workshops and large-scale programming. This role plays a crucial part in promoting academic success and college engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist students with accessing available resources and support services to enhance their academic performance.
  • Facilitate student learning through workshops and one-on-one sessions on topics such as time management, study skills, academic planning, and college engagement.
  • Support campus-wide programming efforts led by the Career and Transfer Center, including retention-focused events and peer-led initiatives.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Guide students through filling out admissions applications and understanding placement testing procedures and scores.
  • Assist students in selecting and registering for courses based on suggestions from assigned academic advisors.
  • Respond promptly to inquiries and concerns about the college or enrollment process from prospective students.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and experience providing direct front-line customer service. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.

This position requires a high level of empathy, active listening skills, and a commitment to creating a supportive environment for students. The successful candidate will be able to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong focus on delivering exceptional results.
