Role Overview

The Senior Engineering Manager will build and lead teams powering the core app experience, impacting various groups within our organization.

This is a hybrid position with a location in São Paulo, Brazil. The manager will be a founding leader as we build out our new office in São Paulo.

  • Team Development: Attract top talents to the shared vision of the team, create and refine the team structure to scale. Mentor and coach individual contributors to grow both technically and professionally.
  • Leadership: Lead teams with charters, developing long-term product vision and technology strategies.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate across functions and sites with teams in different locations, partnering effectively with Data Science, Product, and Ops to drive technical direction.
  • Operational Excellence: Develop an operational model to achieve excellence for product engineering metrics.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of experience as a people manager.
  • Strong organizational skills and experience working with large cross-functional and diverse teams.
  • Experience building consumer or enterprise products.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals, software engineering principles, and development methodologies.
  • Desire knowledge about large-scale, distributed systems, including database management, data processing, and performance tuning.
  • Experience setting and driving innovation strategies at both technical and organizational levels to drive business objectives.
  • A strong ability to architect and design robust, high-scale systems and to challenge engineers to think bigger and more generically in developing their solutions.
  • Experience working actively on career mentorship & development, handling performance & conflicts, and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • Track record of managing, recruiting, and retaining strong engineering talent and growing effective teams.
