About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Demand Planning Manager to join our team at Yankee Candle. As a key member of our Supply Chain department, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate forecasts to drive business growth and optimize inventory levels.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Forecasting and Planning
  • Develop and maintain a rolling 24-month unit forecast at the item level for our accounts/categories using current forecasting methodologies to enhance forecast accuracy, minimize forecast bias, and optimize inventory levels.
  • Manage internal and external relationships to understand customer needs and requirements, and work with cross-functional teams to achieve mutual financial objectives and expected customer service levels.
Demand Planning and Operations
  • Develop a short, medium, and long-term data-driven perspective on POS expectations, inventory levels, and competitive marketplace dynamics to create an unbiased 24-month rolling forecast.
  • Assemble and analyze demand plans by driving the monthly planning cycle utilizing market information and statistical forecasts, working with Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations to obtain necessary customer and product information.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of statistical algorithms, adjust parameters to achieve WFA targets while balancing Attainment and Service levels, and ensure minimal cross-customer impact.
  • Establish proficiency in APO/IBP Demand Planning software and the ability to interpret results from other internal operational support software.
  • Work collaboratively with internal team members to proactively identify risks and opportunities to Plan achievement.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain representatives to identify supply gaps and offer solutions to minimize out of stock or fill rate issues.
  • Manage the outlier process, working closely with Sales to identify opportunities or risks to the forecast that require Supply Chain approval prior to entering the forecast.
  • Work closely with team members to identify solutions to handle disposition of unproductive inventory.
  • Develop Scenarios, including demand drivers' analysis to aid in decision making and collaborate with Sr Team to foster consensus.
Reporting, Communication, and Planning
  • Anticipate potential supply chain issues, actively communicate to Sales, and develop corrective actions.
  • Provide visibility to weekly orders versus forecast and assess potential mix issues an impact to the future forecast.
  • Support annual planning and bridge processes through the preparation of standardized spreadsheets.
  • Identify opportunities, risks, and new product expectations.
  • Support 5-step S&OP process by developing a comprehensive monthly forecast review meeting covering current forecast, prior forecast, prior year, POS, and inventory position.
  • Incorporate overall marketplace performance and its impact on the forecast.
  • Develop expert knowledge of account business practices related to and/or including inventory flow, inventory policy, store openings, and warehouse pulls and triggers.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards to effectively collaborate with the cross-functional team.
Requirements
  1. Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Supply Chain, Operations, or related area. MBA desirable.
  2. Solid experience in demand planning, with experience in matrix organization and working with varying levels of leadership.
  3. Strong Relationship Management skills, with ability to communicate complex data and analytical conclusions simply and succinctly to a diverse audience.
  4. Analytical and interpretation skills, with successful experience in data analytics.
  5. Excellent PC skills with an emphasis on advanced planning systems and Excel.
  6. Utilizing PBI (Power BI) to create dashboards, data visualization, and decision-making support.
  7. Bilingual Portuguese/English with exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
