Overview: Amazon's Legal Department is seeking a skilled attorney to serve as Corporate Counsel, focusing on the support of Amazon Web Services (AWS).

About AWS: AWS leads the cloud computing sector, offering essential IT infrastructure services, including on-demand computing, storage solutions, databases, messaging, and more. Additionally, AWS is involved in the development of cutting-edge IoT, machine learning technologies, and various services.

Role Responsibilities: This position will primarily assist the AWS Sales and Marketing division throughout Latin America, particularly in Brazil. Key responsibilities include:

  • Negotiating, drafting, and providing counsel on significant enterprise agreements and technology licensing contracts.
  • Advising on regulatory compliance and associated legal matters.
  • Supporting marketing initiatives and global expansion efforts.

Transactions will vary from standard agreements to intricate, high-value strategic contracts. The role also encompasses participation in various AWS legal projects, including managing legal challenges arising from existing commercial relationships and addressing pre-litigation disputes and inquiries.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience.
  • Juris Doctor degree and active membership in one state bar or equivalent.
  • Experience in transactional law and technology licensing.
  • Proficient in both Portuguese and English, with strong speaking and writing skills, including negotiation and contract drafting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in both corporate law firms and in-house legal environments.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Familiarity with IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, or cloud computing services.
  • Experience in public procurement and collaboration with government or state-owned entities.
  • A genuine curiosity and eagerness to learn and develop within a team setting.
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
