**Our History**:Oxitec was formed in 2002 by Oxford University Innovation and, in 2015, was acquired by U.S.based Intrexon.

Since inception, Oxitec has pioneered work on controlling insects that spread disease and damage crops through world-class genetic engineering and the use of self-limiting gene technology. In the mid and late 2000s, Oxitec successfully deployed genetically engineered insects in select locations in the USA, Caribbean, South America, and has continued to grow these projects, expanding to new regions and countries.

In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) issued a positive recommendation in support of Oxitec’s self-limiting mosquitoes (OX513A) for a planned pilot in response to the Zika virus outbreak. Oxitec continues to engage with communities around the world that are in need of effective, scalable solutions to combat the dangerous vectors that threaten lives and livelihoods.

**Purpose of the Job**

We are looking for an Insect Production Lead who is highly motivated and passionate about entomology to be part of our Insect Breeding team in Brazil based in Campinas-SP. This position involves managing the whole routine of insect breeding, from the preparation of diets to the care of colonies, in addition to the transfer of technology, guaranteeing execution of POPs by the team, and the optimization of protocols in partnership with our scientists in Brazil and England.

You must have strong commitment, a sense of urgency, the ability to solve things promptly. Your teamworking skills, resilience, flexibility, spirit of cooperation, attention to detail, and communication skills will all be excellent.

Experience of leading teams, managing a laboratory, and in insect breeding will be important, as well as a passion for our mission. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead a dedicated and enthusiastic team delivering pioneering biotechnology.

**Responsibilities**
- Managing a team responsible for rearing insects, from eggs to adults - preparing them to be released in field, according to the SOPs as the production schedule.
- Guaranteeing the standard preparation of diets and inventory solutions, maintenance of supplies and equipment.
- Improving KPIs related to egg production.
- Guarantee accurate data recording in lab notebooks and digital files.
- Regular reporting of production outputs and performance.
- Continuous improvement of production processes through work with Quality and Innovation Teams.

**Skills, Experience and Education Requirements**
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Agronomy, or related areas.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
- Previous leadership experience is desirable or experience in OX5034 production.
- Experience in elaboration of SOPs, Work instructions and Forms.
- Understanding of KPIs.
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel.
- Prompt identification of Nonconformities and investigative capacity.
